Note to Multisport Athletes

Student Athletes currently participating in a Northgate sport must wait until the conclusion of their current sport season before participating in any tryouts for an upcoming season.  All students will still get the mandated 3 day tryout once their current sport is complete.

2020-2021 Athlete Registration is OPEN!

CLICK HERE to register your child to play sports at Northgate in 2020-2021. This is a mandatory process every year for all student-athletes. Other important details to note:

  • COVID-19 Update: The start dates of each season are subject to change depending on our current county-tier status.  Certain sports require our county to be in a specific or less-restrictive tier to begin competition.  All student-athletes are encouraged to register early to receive information from coaches regarding pre-season camps/clinics and the beginning of the season.  Please visit our COVID-19 Resource Center for the latest information/updates.
  • Online Registration: The registration is completed 100% online via SportsNet.  Physical copies of forms will NOT be accepted by the coaches or Athletic Department.
  • Complete all necessary registration information online in SportsNet. You should do this as soon as possible - even before you have completed the athletic physical evaluation.
  • Complete an Athletic Physical Evaluation with your doctor.  You and your doctor must complete this physical form and upload the doctor-signed forms in SportsNet.
  • After completing the online registration and uploading the doctor signed physical forms in SportsNet, you will receive a confirmation email approving your child to tryout for sports.
  • The Athletic Department MUST manually approve each registration.  A backlog may occur close to the start of each season, please allow at least 2 weeks between the start of the season the time you submit your registration.
  • Students are not allowed to participate in practice, tryouts, or competition after the start date of your season until they have been cleared by the Athletic Department.
  • If you have any registrations questions or issues, please contact email our Athletic Directors, Ben Ballard ballardb@mdusd.org and/or Brandon Enriquez enriquezb@mdusd.org.

Tryouts Information

  • Tryouts at Northgate generally take place the first week to two weeks of the official start of each season.
  • Student athletes are given the opportunity to have a minimum of 3 days during a tryout, but some sports, at the coaches discretion, may lengthen the tryouts dependent on number of athletes, available facilities and other related factors.
  • Student athletes must complete the registration process in order to be eligible to tryout for sports.
  • Participating in sports at Northgate is a privilege, not a right and must be earned.  The tryout process for sports at Northgate is competitive and may force coaches to make roster selections (aka, cuts) for varsity, junior varsity, and freshman teams.
  • All sports teams that have tryouts provide each student athlete a fair and objective evaluation, minimum of three days and make the best decisions based on the tryout.  As much as we want everyone to participate in sports at Northgate, roster selections will be made and some student athletes may not make the sport they are trying out for.  Head Coaches will make every effort to explain to each student athlete why they did not make the team.  Final roster selections are program based and not negotiable.

Athlete Registration Portal

Northgate High School uses SportsNet as our online registration software for student-athletes.  Every year, every parent/guardian must complete the mandatory process of registering their student-athlete for athletics.  During the registration process, the parent/guardian will be require to input student information, emergency contact details, medical policy numbers, etc. that will all be stored in a secured database and available to Northgate administrators, athletic directors, and the respective coaches.  A doctor-signed physical evaluation form will also be need to be uploaded via the registration process.  Each registration submission is manually reviewed and approved by a staff of the Northgate Athletic Department.
