The Northgate Bronco Boosters is made up of proud parents, faculty, and sponsors of all of Northgate High School’s athletic programs, cheerleading squads, and our Certified Athletic Trainer and Sports Medicine program. The Boosters’ efforts and financial support influence and benefit over seven hundred student-athletes each year. We provide approximately $60,000 to help defray the cost of our athletic and Sports Medicine programs through Athlete Membership fees and other Boosters’ sponsored fundraising activities.
Athlete Membership
Each athlete is asked to join the Northgate Bronco Boosters by donating $75 per year. This membership will be credited to each sport the athlete participates in during the school year. Membership funds are allocated based on the number of Northgate Bronco Booster members participating in all sports and the number of members participating in a particular sport. [For example: Assume $35,000 is available for distribution to all teams and there are 600 members in the Northgate Bronco Boosters. If a team has ten players and all ten players are members (10 ÷ 600 x $35,000 = $583), the team can then receive up to $583 financial support from the Northgate Bronco Boosters.] Team allocations defray the cost of equipment, uniforms, travel, and awards. All teams, regardless of their size or sport, benefit equally from the Northgate Bronco Boosters’ efforts.
Sports Physicals
Three times each year (fall, winter, and spring) the Northgate Bronco Boosters sponsor Sports Physicals. Each athlete is required to have a physical prior to participating in any school sport. Northgate’s Certified Athletic Trainer and the Sports Medicine program along with volunteering doctors, donate their time to provide a Sports Physical to any athlete. The Northgate Bronco Boosters, as part of our fundraising efforts, collect a fee of $35 per physical. Annual income from the Sports Physicals during the past five years has averaged over $2,700.
Crab Feed
Each January, the Northgate Bronco Boosters host an annual Crab Feed. This is our most important and productive fundraiser. This is an evening of dining and dancing including a silent and live auction, and plenty of fun! This event raises approximately $30,000 each year.
Sports Medicine Program
The Northgate Bronco Boosters are committed to supporting our athletic program’s goal of health and safety for our athletes. Northgate’s Certified Athletic Trainer and the Sports Medicine program provide injury prevention and rehabilitation. Northgate Bronco Boosters allocates approximately $30,000 each year to subsidize the Certified Athletic Trainer and training equipment. The Sports Medicine program is administered by ROP (Regional Occupational Program) and Northgate’s Certified Athletic Trainer. It is offered to any junior or senior student enrolled in the Mt. Diablo School District. The program includes human anatomy, nutrition, emergency medical care, evaluations of athletes’ injuries, CPR training, weight training, equipment fitting, taping of athletes, etc. Northgate’s Certified Athletic Trainer is available to all students.
